Betty Jo Hobbs, 73 of Des Arc, formerly of Toledo, OH, died Friday, April 21 at Des Arc Nursing and Rehab Center in Des Arc.
Betty was born April 4, 1944 in Des Arc, Arkansas to Tom Hobbs Jr. and Emma Louise Chase.
Betty attended the Biscoe Public School System. She was a 1963 graduate of Biscoe High School.
After graduating high school, Betty moved to Toledo, Ohio where she lived and worked for almost 30 years.
Betty was raised and baptized as a member Fellowship Missionary Baptist Church in Des Arc, Arkansas. She reunited with her church after returning to Arkansas in the early 1990’s.
While a resident of Toledo, Betty worked as a housekeeper for the Lorraine Hotel for almost 30 years. After returning to Arkansas, she went to work for HazenTech (formerly, Inland Sintered Metals) in Hazen, Arkansas where she worked for several years until she retired.
Her father, two brothers: Larry Chase and Danny Chase all preceded Betty in death.
Survivors are: her mother, Emma Louise Berry of Des Arc, AR; a brother Clayton (Dorothy) Berry of Jacksonville, AR; a sister Rhonda Berry of Des Arc, AR; a special niece she was helping to raise Takiyah Spencer of Des Arc, AR; four extended family members raised as her siblings: Jimmy Chase and Edna Taylor both of St. Paul, MN; Stella (Artis) Dixon of Woodson, AR; and Sandra Howard of Des Arc, AR; a special close cousin Willie Ann Scurlock, of Memphis, TN; two special and dear friends Joe Bob and Mary Robinson of Des Arc, AR; and numerous nephews, nieces, other relatives and friends.
