Levanders Randall, 82 of Cotton Plant, died Monday, December 12 at White County Medical Center in Searcy.
Levanders, or Lee as he was affectionately known, was born August 26, 1934 in Tamo, Arkansas to Lewis Randall Sr. and Annie Bell Walls-Randall.
Levanders was a member of Ash Grove Missionary Baptist Church in Cotton Plant for more than 47 years. During his tenure at Ash Grove, he served as a member of the Deacon Board and as a Sunday School Teacher.
Levanders received his education from the local Tamo community public school system. He went on to attend and graduate from Merrill High School in Pine Bluff, Arkansas, where her was a star football and basketball player. He later went on to earn a B.S.E. Degree in Physical Education with a minor in Science, from AM&N College (University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff) in 1964.
Levanders served a four year tour of duty with the United States Navy, before being honorably discharged.
Levanders began his teaching career at Blacksville Junior High School in Newport, Arkansas, where he taught for 1 school year. He then went to Cotton Plant Vocational High School, where he and his wife worked together for more than 40 years. He taught sciences, physical education and was the track coach.
Levanders was an avid gardening and sports fan. He enjoyed fishing and hunting. In his later years, he also enjoyed watching westerns on television. He was loved carpentry work and was a jack of all trades.
A great highlight of Levanders’ golden years was being inducted into the Arkansas High School Athletic Administration Association Hall of Fame in July 2016. Since his retirement from his career, He and his wife and friends traveled exclusively. His greatest pleasure in life was spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
His parents, and his sister Mae Ola Tyler all preceded Levanders in death.
Survivors are: his wife of 54 years, Ruth Powell-Randall of Cotton Plant, AR; a son Kenneth (Jacquie) Randall of White Hall, AR; two daughters: Alicia (Chauncey) Clayton of Little Rock, AR; and Marcia (Roger) Barnes of Rowlett, TX; a brother Lewis (Marguerite) Randall Jr. of St. Louis, MO; four grandchildren, a great grandchild and a host of other relatives and friends.
