Mildred Carter-Doss, 84, of Holly Grove, died Friday, April 14 at her home.
Mildred was born February 16, 1933 in Holly Grove, Arkansas to Robert Carter Sr. and Texanna Sims-Carter. She was to widow of Willie B. Doss.
Mildred was a lifelong member of St. Luke Missionary Baptist Church in Holly Grove. During her time at St. Luke, she served on the church’s Usher Board, Sunday school teacher and as Sunday school secretary.
Mildred received her education from the Holly Grove Public School System. She received her GED in 1970 from Holly Grove Vocational High School. While her children were attending public school, she served as a member of the PTA for several years.
Mildred was employed as a Home Healthcare Aide for several years before her final retirement. She was also employed with Sanyo Manufacturing Corporation (Warrick) in Forrest City for more than 25 years before she retired.
Mildred is described by her family and friends as a very loving, nurturing, caring, supportive and spiritual mother and grandmother.
Her parents, her husband, two children, a sister Shirley Carter-Parks and a brother Robert Carter Jr. all preceded Mildred in death.
Survivors are: three sons: Bobby (Rosemary) Doss of Pine Bluff, AR; Kenneth “Billy” (Pat) Doss Sr. and Rickey (Janice) Doss both of Little Rock, AR; five daughters: Betty Doss and Peggy Doss-Quarles both of Holly Grove, AR; Marilyn Fountain and Patricia Doss both of Little Rock, AR; and Linda Smith of Fort Worth, TX; two grandchildren she raised as her own: Reginald (Tina) Doss or Little Rock, AR; DeLisa Doss-Hunter of Atlanta, GA; a brother: Johnny Lee Carter of Kansas City, MO; nineteen grandchildren, a host of great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, other relatives and friends.
