Norman J. Brown, 74, of Searcy, formerly of Brinkley, died Friday evening, December 16 at White County Medical Center in Searcy.

Norman was born November 3, 1942 in Brinkley, Arkansas to Cleofus Brown Sr. and Mary Ellen Snelling-Brown.

Norman received his formal education from the Brinkley Public School System. He was a 1965 graduate of Marian Anderson High School. After high school, he went on to further his education by attending AM&N (University of Arkansas) College in Pine Bluff for three years.

Normal was a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church in Searcy for more than 30 years. During his time her he sang in the choir. He was formerly a member of Gethsemane Missionary Baptist Church in Brinkley.

Norman was a former employee of Amana Corporation/Speed Queen in Searcy for more than 20 years before retiring in 2006. He was also a former employee of the Cotton Belt Railroad in Pine Bluff for 4 years.

Norman was a Mason and a member of King Solomon Lodge #473 in Searcy. He was a member of the Marian Anderson Association in Brinkley and a member of the Cotton Plant Club of Greater Little Rock, Arkansas.

His parents, three sisters: Carolyn Brown, Anna Ruth Brown and Mary Helen Brown all preceded Norman in death.

Survivors are: his wife of 40 years, Elma Farmer Brown of Searcy, AR; his son Kevin (Rickitta) Brown of Waxahachie, TX; 2 daughters: Glenda “Honey” Brown of Brinkley, AR; Pam Butler of San Diego, CA; three step children: Ryan Brown, Toni Brown, and LaJuan Brown; a brother Cleofus Brown Jr. of Milwaukee, WI; six sisters: Betty (Freeman) Dilworth of Brinkley, AR; Glenda (Freddie) McClinton of Little Rock, AR; Cathy (Greg) Brown of Chicago, Ill; Tular Brown of Santa Fe”, NM and Annette Brown and Arlene Brown both of Milwaukee, WI; mother in law, Ora Lee Farmer of Little Rock, AR; sister in law Shirley (Malcum) Jackson of Little Rock, AR; brothers in law: Jerome (Zella) Farmer of Maumelle, AR; and Richard (Ella) Farmer of Little Rock, AR: two god daughters; Shara McClinton and Andrea McClinton both of Conway, AR; ten grandchildren, four great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.
