Larry Darnell Hollister, 67 of Cotton Plant, died Tuesday, April 25 at Woodruff County Nursing and Rehab Center in McCrory.
Larry was born January 24, 1950 in Brinkley (Dark Corner Community) Arkansas to Frank Hollister and Juanita Davis-Hollister. He was one of three children born to this union.
“Dale” as Larry was affectionately known, was a member of Trice Chapel Missionary Baptist Church in Cotton Plant for more than 10 years, where he served as a member of the Usher Board. He was a former lifelong member of New Mount Pleasant Baptist Church in Cotton Plant (Dark Corner Community).
Larry was a 1969 graduate of Cotton Plant Vocational High School in Cotton Plant.
Larry was a former employee of Jensen Construction Company (based in Des Moines, IA), as a bridge construction worker for more than 13 years before retiring. He was formerly employed as a farmer with Jackie Banks Farms, Vaughn Mathis Farms and Dewayne Chapple Farms for many years.
His parents, two brothers: Leonard Hollister and Paul Hollister, his father and mother in law Luther Whitmore Sr. and Johnnie Whitmore all preceded Larry in death.
Survivors are his wife of 40 years Janie Hollister of Cotton Plant, AR; a daughter Pam Ifill of Waterbury, CT; an uncle James Hollister of Fort Wayne, IN; three aunts: Naomi Dixon of Oakland, CA; Bernice Payne of Tulsa, OK and Alberta Hollister of Memphis, TN; two special generational cousins: Victoria Ryland and Eddie (Charlene) Mayo both of Cotton Plant, AR; two grandchildren, two great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends survive him.
